FOR OUR PARENTS

Athletics are not just sports you play after school, they’re an extension of the classroom.  For our students, learning continues after the final school bell rings. We promote that to our students because the learning done after 3:00 p.m. impacts the student for the rest of his or her life.

Studies show participation in school-sponsored activities is linked to higher attendance, grade point averages, educational aspirations and college acceptance rates. Student-athletes also develop a wide variety of life skills, including accountability, communication, responsibility, time management, commitment, teamwork and the ability to accept constructive criticism.

In all, Fortune estimates that 95 percent of its Fortune 500 CEOs played sports in school. While only 6 percent of Fortune 500 CEOs are women, the proportion of women CEOs who were athletes is similar—90 percent of them played sports at some point, and 54 percent played sports at the university level.

You are providing your child with a framework for future success.

FOR OUR STUDENTS

The great social benefit of playing sports is all the new friendships you’re going to make. Some could even last forever.

It’s highly likely that you’ll make many friends for one main reason: you share the same passion for the same sport. You’ll always have something to talk about and remember good old days in the locker room or on the playing field.

New friendships mean new connections and a bigger social circle and network, which again can translate to career success later in life.

Sports can build your self-confidence.

Sure, there will be bad times when nothing is working out, and you feel like you want to give up -- not many things in life are easy. The important thing to remember is if you work hard, the results will slowly come.

Even the slightest result will improve your self-esteem. A first basket. A stop in a soccer game. A winning set. These are all minor accomplishments that can lead to major feelings of positivity.

When you combine all of these things together, participating in sports can provide you with a place you fit in, a chance to compete and grow as a person, all while honoring God utilizing the gifts He has given you.
